Published Mon, 25 Nov 2024 09:16:19 GMT
Editor’s note: Fourth of a series of NFL draft previews as it relates to the Broncos. Today: tight end.Broncos’ in-house offseason moves: Signed veteran Chris Manhertz to a two-year, $6 million deal.Under contract: Greg Dulcich (three years), Manhertz (two years), Albert Okwuegbunam (one year).Need scale (1-10): 7. Dulcich made an impression last season, but two different hamstring injuries cost him the first five games of the season and the last two. He needs to prove he can stay healthy and improve his run blocking, but he’s the clear No. 1 going into 2023, while Manhertz provides a physical presence as an in-line blocker. But the Broncos need a second playmaker at the position in the passing game, unless new coach Sean Payton sees something in Okwuegbunam (on final year of rookie deal) that the previous coaching staff didn’t see. In a draft rich in tight end talent, using one of their five picks on a tight end makes sense.Top Five1. When asked about Greg Dulcich at the NFL league meetings March 27 in Phoenix, Broncos head coach Sean Payton said everything about the team’s lukewarm feeling about its tight end room… without saying much at all.“We’ll see (on Dulcich), Payton said. “Some of it was hard — the evaluation (on Dulcich). Some of it was hard.”The Broncos are pick-strapped in this year’s draft, with only five selections starting with No. 67 overall in the third round. But tight end is clearly a focus. Dulcich, the Broncos’ third-round pick last year out of UCLA, took over the starting job from Albert Okwuegbunam and flashed big-play potential. An impressive Week 6 debut featured a 39-yard TD catch, but hamstring injuries both early in the season and late cost him seven games while he struggled with a steep learning curve as a run blocker. At the end of the season, Dulcich said fully rehabbing his hamstring would be a priority heading into 2023. Meanwhile, the Broncos have alre...Opinion: Resign, recall and the November election. Hold Denver school board members accountable

In the aftermath of another school shooting, the Denver Public School Board has demonstrated that they do not possess the judgment necessary to keep our children in a safe learning environment.Board members have yet to apologize for their decision to remove school resource officers from Denver schools without a backup plan, ultimately endangering students and staff. What the board members have done since the East High School shooting, however, is evidence of their dysfunctional management and an utter disregard for transparency.Steve Zansberg, a well-respected First Amendment attorney and president of the Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition, recently charged the Board with violating Colorado’s open meeting laws, after the Board deliberated secretly in a closed executive session for more than five hours before emerging and reading aloud from portions of a new memo reversing course and placing school resource officers back in some schools. The Board voted unanimously to adopt the...Top 10 Scottish OnlyFans & Best Scottish OnlyFans 2023

It’s the year before a presidential election, which means it’s once again time for a group to call for a unity ticket of a Democratic and a Republican for president and vice president or for an independent candidate to avoid the dysfunction of the parties entirely. This happens just about every four years. There are lessons to learn from past seasons, especially in these extremely polarized times. The current effort by the No Labels group to get a presidential ballot line in all 50 states for 2024 is being treated as something of a novelty, but we’ve seen something like this in most modern presidential elections. Just four years ago Unite America was proposing a bipartisan unity ticket for 2020, pushing the major parties to commit to having a vice presidential candidate of a party different from their own. (They even floated the idea of a John Kasich/John Hickenlooper ticket.)In 2012, there was Americans Elect, which wanted to use a “nonpartisan, national online presidential primary” ...Kurtenbach: The Giants’ gut-punch loss to the Dodgers said so much about this team and its future

SAN FRANCISCO — There wasn’t a singular event that did in the Giants Wednesday. You can’t chalk up a loss that bad to one pitcher, one at-bat, or one pitch. No, it was the byproduct of the Dodgers walking through the front door and ransacking the place. The Giants saw it coming, but were incapable of stopping it.And to think, it started so well. The Giants had it made to start the game. They were battering Clayton Kershaw in the early goings, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after two innings, while their starter, Alex Cobb, looked formidable, with his two-seam fastball showing serious bite.Yes, it was early, but the vibes were outstanding. The Giants looked good. Then the dream turned into a nightmare. And it’s tough to make the case that it will turn again anytime soon.Related ArticlesSan Francisco Giants | Why some players believe the SF Giants-Dodgers rivalry could be even better in 2023 San Francisco Giants | Michael Conforto’s eighth-inni...13-year-old leads Northern California police on chase in stolen car and crashes, leaving 2 dead

Published Mon, 25 Nov 2024 09:16:19 GMT
Across the country, the illogical priorities of the right have become more and more glaring. And nowhere is this worse than in Tennessee, where conservatives have banned books and drag shows but have done nothing to protect kids from what is now their most likely cause of death: gun violence. Instead of addressing this crisis, after the mass shooting at a private elementary school in Nashville on March 27, the Republican-led legislature expelled from its chamber two Black freshman Democrats in their 20s — Reps. Justin Pearson and Justin Jones — for daring to demand commonsense gun control. That this was a partisan act, a racist act and an anti-democratic act is undeniable. But it was also a desperate and ultimately futile act, one that could lead to positive change in the future.Nothing could be more revealing of the fragility of the GOP than these expulsions. Republican legislators could have engaged with Pearson and Jones on the issues, but instead they chose to deploy the one weap...Latest news
