When will humans go extinct? These scientists have an answer

(WTAJ) -- Just how long will humans be able to inhabit Earth? That is the question a group of researchers at the University of Bristol in England think they may have answered.According to a paper published this week on nature.com, humanity might only have 250 million years left as Earth forms a new supercontinent. While scientists have warned about climate change, Earth's temperature, and greenhouse gases/emissions, it was time to see what might actually wipe out humanity with the help of a new supercomputer. In the paper, the research team said that while the sun will naturally expand as it begins dying, eventually engulfing Earth in about two billion years, human life might not make it past the possible anarchy of what's been dubbed "Pangea Ultima." The simulation comes from the team of scientists feeding it data that's currently available about Earth, such as climate, ocean chemistry and tectonic plate movement. The supercomputer predicted that Earth's tectonic plates would shift...LIVE: Westlake's Kayser closing in on big milestone, Chaps host Del Valle

Fleck’s comments, becomes big help for Gophers’ players

An imperfect storm has benefited Gophers student-athletes this week.Dinkytown Athletes told the Pioneer Press on Friday the NIL collective’s specialty beer release — unintentionally coupled with football coach P.J. Fleck’s jarring plea for more funding — has produced a big response over the past three days.DTA said it has netted more new memberships over the past three days than it had gained across the previous three months. There is little context, however, because DTA does not share internal data for competitive reasons — read, negative recruiting between other athletic programs. Some Gophers fans in Dinkytown Athletes were upset by Fleck’s comments on KFAN on Tuesday. The comments can be summarized down to: If there isn’t more funding for players, “we will be a Triple-A ball club for somebody else.”Coming off a shocking loss to Northwestern last week, Fleck had been responding to a question about phenom freshman tailback Darius Taylor. Fleck steered the answer to how he feels pre...New simulator helping Missouri schools prepare for possible threats

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A new tool is helping teachers, administrators and school resource officers better prepare for school threats while keeping students safe. When parents said their kids off to school, they want them to be safe and educated. For a student, it can be hard to learn if they don't feel safe. This new system being offered to districts across Missouri is designed to help school workers think on their feet. "People don't understand that with K-12 education, every teacher in America today is the emergency manager of their classroom," chief operating officer of the Missouri School Boards' Association K-12 Safety Division John McDonald said. "They are the first responder of the hallway. That doesn't mean that they are going to tackle a gunman or shoot a gunman, but it's their responsibility to protect their kids." Denver’s run game, supposedly the foundation of the offense, has flashed through three weeks.Running back Samaje Perine had 78 total yards in the season opener. Last week against the Dolphins, Javonte Williams turned a short pass from Russell Wilson into a 17-yard gain and later powered up the middle for a 16-yard run.But flashes are temporary. The Broncos hope to turn those small sample sizes into a consistent effort on Sunday against the Bears and for the rest of the season.“We still have a little ways to go, but we are getting there,” Perine told The Post.Through three games, the Broncos have averaged 95 rushing yards per game. Their 122-yard performance against the Commanders in Week 2 was the only time they eclipsed 100 rushing yards. And the Broncos have yet to record a single rushing touchdown in the second half on 33 attempts.Williams, who perhaps is moving better than expected after returning from a torn ACL, has 138 rushing yards but is averaging fewer than four yards per ...New wildfire burning 5,000 acres in Moffat County
